Observatory Campground is a no-frills campsite in the wilderness of Palomar Mountain forests. Nestled amidst pine and oak groves, this site offers pitching tents and direct access to a majestic trail system for day hiking, horseback riding and nature walks. Science buffs are often drawn to this camp for its proximity to Palomar Observatory and nightly stargazing parties at the camp. On warm evenings you can light bonfires at the group campfire rings after enjoying lakeside picnics during daytime. Observatory Campground is a great base camp if you wish to explore the tropics, babbling creeks, waterfalls and interesting wildlife at the Palomar Mountain State Park.
