It has quite a historical background that greatly affected its existence during world war 2. In the year 1951, the San Diego art institute changed from all-male membership and started including women as well. It was only after women joined the institute that it started growing in activities and its popularity. It is an institute that for decades have been supporting contemporary art forms as well as build a platform for artists to grow, network as well as make a living. The SDAI is definitely an institution of art and is a must-visit while in San Diego.
