San Diego Model Railroad Museum is one of the largest of its kind museums in the entire North America. It is situated in El Prado in San Diego, California. Nestled in the magnificent backdrop of Balboa Park, this museum has an innate beauty with several trains, trestles, and tracks spread over an area of 27,000 square feet. This Model Railroad Museum is a place where imagination is exquisitely devised. It has both indoor and outdoor exhibitions and programming for all ages.
This museum features some popular permanent exhibitions, including the Pacific Desert Lines, The Toy Train Gallery, The Centennial Railway Garden, and much more. SDMRM's mission is to 'research, collect, preserve, & present the heritage of American Railroading with scale models of California railroads and landscapes'. It has a range of miniature depicting California railroads, meant to educate the public on the history & aspects of railroading.
