Cathedral Metropolitano, as the Costa Ricans call it, is the most significant cathedral in San Jose. Built in 1871, it is a great place to offer peace and tranquillity to its visitors.
the superb neoclassical architecture may appear somewhat plain from outside however it is developed with delightful recoloured glasses, models, tiles and sculptures. Extremely calm and quiet as it is inside, the religious wonder is very much encompassed by patio nurseries, which also has an enormous marble statue of Papa Juan Paul II. Worshiping in the church building brings a particular respite from the daily hustling clamour of the bustling city.
