Morne Seychellois National Park, Seychelles Overview

Morne Seychellois National Park is located on Mahe island in Seychelles. Covering an expansive area of 3045 hectares, it comprises more than 20% of the entire island. The park consists of dense mountainous forests and endemic birds like Seychelles bulbul, Seychelles swiftlet, Seychelles Scops-owl, Seychelles blue pigeon and Seychelles sunbird. The world's smallest frog, which is 1cm in length, can also be spotted here. The highlights are hiking and birdwatching.

The highest mountain of Seychelles, Morne Seychellois, is home to some of the most rewarding hikes in the region. These trails vary in length and difficulty and offer panoramic views. Extending to about ten kilometres in length and four kilometres in breadth, the central part of the park is accessible only through walking trails.

1. Danzil to Anse Major

This is a relatively simple 2.5km trail starting from Danzil in northwest Mahe. The small walking path leads upwards and before it descends to the Anse Major Beach, it offers a stunning view of M (Read More)orne Seychellois National Park. Since most of the hiking path is exposed to the sun, it is best to avoid it during the afternoon.

2. Tea Factory to Morne Blanc

Morne Blanc is an imposing mountain that towers at 667 metres above sea level. This trail is a moderately difficult uphill climb of 1200m each way. The trailhead is along the Sans Souci road (the road from Victoria to Port Glaud), 300m above the SeyTe tea factory. Follow the sign above the tea kiosk. Watch out for jackfruit trees, Seychelles' endemic birds and the world's smallest frog along the trail.

3. Copolia Trail

Copolia is the most accessible trail to follow, and it ends at an imposing granite plateau. The start and endpoint of this trail are on Sans Souci Road, at Val Riche. The path is easily navigable (Read More) and is marked with blue and yellow markings. The highest point of the trail is a granite hilltop that offers a stunning panoramic view of Victoria, Mahe's east coast, and almost the entire island. Morne Seychellois National Park is also visible from here on a clear day. The hike can be done in 2 hours and an entry fee of SCR100.

4. Trois Feres Trail

Trois Frères means Three Brothers in French. This refers to three stunning cliffs that tower over the city of Victoria, imposing to anyone who sees them. The trail starts from the Sans Souci ro (Read More)ad and takes about four hours. The trek route is marked with granite boulders and some small streams. The holy Trois Frères Cross marks the end of the trail.
