Whale sharks, the largest fish in the world throng the Seychelles Island between September and November. They are commonly known as sagren in Creole and feed on plankton in the sea bed. These gigantic creatures weigh up to twenty tonnes and have a size of around twelve metres. Whale sharks are usually spotted in places that are rich in plankton. These creatures are often found on the islands of La Digue, Mahe and Praslin.
Whale shark spotting is one of the most exciting activities in the Seychelles Island. There are ample opportunities to snorkel and swim with the whale sharks.
