NTU Centre For Contemporary Arts, Singapore Overview

The NTU Centre for Contemporary Art, abbreviated as NTU CCA Singapore, is a research centre lying in the campus of the Nanyang Technological University, which is one of the most reputed universities in the world. Located at Gillman Barracks at Block 6 Lock Road, it has been widely acclaimed for hosting exemplary exhibitions, research and academic education, and residencies. The Centre does it through various modes like exhibitions, lectures, workshops, open studios, and film screenings. NTU CCA also encourages visits by researchers and curators for their study.

NTU CCA is one of the few places in Singapore that displays contemporary art from around the world. The centre comprises of seven studios, and they all have complete support from the centre in terms of time, resources, and access to a platform to showcase their art. NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts was set up in 2013 and since then it has been hosting several live shows by established local and international artists along with film screenings.

NTU CCA Tour

NTU CCA organises three different tours- School Tours, GB Art and History Tours, and Educational programmes.

Exhibition School Tours: These guided tours are aimed at providing conversations and discussions about art, and to help the visitors develop observation skills and analytical thinking. The tours are led by the curators of the centre who give insight to the artists and the artwork and make it an educational and fun experience.

GB Art and History Tours: The Gillman Barracks Art and History Tours are a type of guided tours that provide insights to contemporary arts within the cluster of art galleries that is within Barracks. Information about the rich culture, history and heritage are given, and it is s true delight for lovers of art.

How to Reach NTU Centre For Contemporary Arts

A free shuttle bus runs between NTU and NTU CCA on Wednesdays and Fridays, at 6:20 PM. The return bus from NTU CCA to NTU leaves NTU CCA at 9:30 PM.

To get to NTU, the MRT East-West line drops off at the Boon Lay MRT station. From there, take the SBS no. 179 or 199 at the Boon Lay bus interchange situated just next to the MRT station.

Or, get on at the Pioneer MRT station and get off the overhead bridge to take the free NTU-Pioneer MRT shuttle bus at the bus-stop outside Block 649A, Jurong West Street 63. This shuttle bus operates daily from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM.
