Skopelos Town, locally known as Chora, is located in the Northern part of the island, and is right next to the main port. The town has been recognised as a “Traditional Settlement of Outstanding Beauty” owing to its white-washed houses with terracotta-red roofs and brilliantly coloured doors, and the amphitheatre design. The picturesque low-traffic streets lined with shops, cafes, bars and many small churches are ideal for relaxing and shopping while exploring the island.
The Panagista tower is a small seafront chapel facing the port and is one of the first attractions to visit in the town apart from the Venetian castle. There are several bars along the streets and Greek wine is a main delicacy. Mericus cocktail bar offers specially made cocktails and is a famous hangout spot. The walk along the two harbors is also a popular activity. The town is well connected to the rest of the island through public transportation.
