Saint Domnius Cathedral, Split Overview

Saint Domnius Cathedral, situated within Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia, is among the world's oldest cathedrals still in use, originating from the 4th century. Originally constructed as Emperor Diocletian's mausoleum, it was transformed into a Christian cathedral in the 7th century. The cathedral's bell tower, standing approximately 60 meters tall, features 183 steps leading to a panoramic view of Split and the Adriatic Sea.

Built in the 4th century, the Cathedral has a connection to Diocletian’s Palace. It has a church, dedicated to Virgin Mary a bell tower. The bell tower, which is the main site, is dedicated to Saint Domnius, a bishop of Salona. The architecture has been revamped several times in history and thus represents various styles of different periods.
