Vandeperiyar is a quaint, little town in Idukki District, Kerala, 18km from Thekkady. At an altitude of 2743ft. above sea level, this hilly town has been a delight for travellers who enjoy exploring plantations and spice farms. Despite the commercial activity, with greenery engulfing a traveller, Vandeperiyar has found a way to take you back to nature. The plantations are an ecosystem of their own - nourishing flora and fauna as the neighbouring forests do.
With the enchanting River Periyar flowing through, Vandiperiyar is famous for the cultivation of spices, herbs and its breathtaking natural terrain. Nature lovers can explore the Government Agricultural Farm and the Flower Garden other than exploring the expansive coffee and tea plantations in the region, a major source of income for the locals. This industrious town also has a number of tea factories that offer guided tours.
