Carnival Venice is an age-old charming festival organized annually around February or March. The festival is organized in San Marco where families and people from other countries dress up, wear colourful Venetian masks, and participate in processions and parades.
The festival is organized before the Ash Wednesday of the Lent month that started as a celebration of the Republic of Venice over the Patriarch. It witnesses many masked people roaming the streets with joy and smiles. Multiple shows, theatres, plays, and processions are organized at every cafe and restaurant during the festival days. Participate in extravagant competitions like mask marathons, ice skating, etc, or dive in the musical extravaganza of Masquerade ball nights and live performances of famous artists. Do not forget to grab your souvenirs from the street shops on the square during the festival.
Other useful objective information : The festival is organized during the winter, hence carry your warm clothes as there can snow or rain during that time. You will have to buy tickets to attend the events organized by private cafes and restaurants.
