The best time to visit Missouri is from September through November. The heat of summer cools off and the monsoon resides to an occasional drizzle. Temperatures vary in the range of 15 to 20 C and make the weather ideal to set off on an adventurous journey along the mountain trails and the lakes. While the beauty of the changing fall colors fills the backdrop with enchanting hues, the camping sites are just perfect to enjoy the serene sunsets over the mountains. Missouri in the winter months of December through mid-March is covered with snow and experiences temperatures that are uncomfortably chilly. The city receives a good deal of snowstorms in January and February and is not recommended for tourist visits. Although spring comes through in mid-March and temperatures rise to warmer and comfortable highs, Missouri receives a lot of rainfall in these months making it difficult to explore the city. If one does not mind the wet climate, it is the perfect time to take advantage of the lower hotel prices in and around town.
