Itinerary
Situated in the Beylerbeyi neighborhood of the Üsküdar district in Istanbul, Turkey, the Beylerbeyi Palace graces the Asian side of the Bosphorus. Constructed between 1861 and 1865, this imperial Ottoman summer retreat now resides just north of the inaugural Bosphorus Bridge. Notably, it served as the final place of residence for Sultan Abdulhamid II, who was under house arrest until his passing in 1918. Designed in the Second Empire style by Sarkis Balyan, Beylerbeyi Palace seems fairly restrained compared to the excesses of the earlier Dolmabahçe or Küçüksu palaces.
