What is the history of Greece?

One of the most historical countries in the world is Greece and it dates back to 1300 BC during the Bronze Age. Greek civilisation was one of the most ancient ones in the world when the Mycenaean, Cycladic and Minoan civilisations emerged. Athens and Sparta were two most important places during 800 BC and the Greek went on to include southern Italy in Greater Greece during the Golden Age. This time in history was famous for architectural marvels like Parthenon and classics like Oedipus. Athenians were the peace-loving residents while Spartans were excessively aggressive. In 401 AD, Spartans won the Peloponnesian Wars but the victory was short-lived. It was followed by the reign of Alexander the Great and Hellenistic Rule which merged Macedonia and Greece. In 205, it was again conquered by the Romans. It was followed by the Greek Renaissance movement led by Emperor Hadrian but stopped because of the Goths who invaded their territories. In the later years, it was under the Byzantine Empire, Frankish leaders, Turkish rule and many others. It also played a major role in World War I. By 1936, the country turned communist and in the same year, Gen, fascist dictator came to power and tried establishing a Nazi territory. The country got the support of the US and it became stable and now there is a multi-party democracy which is headed by a prime minister.
