Ees Wyke Country House is an elegant Georgian property in the Lake District, less than 3 miles from the town of Hawkshead. Set on high-ground the house overlooks Esthwaite Water and offers free parki (Read More)ng. Ees Wyke, once a holiday home of Beatrix Potter, features 2 traditional lounges, both with a fireplace. Stunning views of some of the most well-known fells in the Lake District can be enjoyed from the terrace area. Bedrooms feature striking picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. Each room includes an en suite bathroom, as well as a TV. Some rooms also feature slopped beamed ceilings. Most mornings you will awake to the aroma of freshly baked bread, which accompanies the locally sourced bacon and Cumberland sausage at breakfast. In addition to this there is a menu featuring tasty options such as Loch Fyne kippers. The Lake District is famed for its many countryside walks and the Moss Eccles Tarn walk starts from the house. The Windermere Ferry is 2 miles from the house and goes to Ferry Nab near Bowness-On-Windermere. 7 rooms are ensuite, 2 rooms have seporate bathrooms

Actually i was expecting a 5 star hotel. It's a very good clean house with maximum 3 or 4 rooms with NO attach bath room. Kindly note that it's food was very good quality but not like buffet available in any 4 or 5 star hotel. Staff is very cooperative and delicate. Location is quite far. I paid taxi of 80 Pound from Oxenholmes station. If you do not have your own or rented car then its quite off place. View from this location is marvellous but you need car. However, if you have money, Taxi is one phone call away with wait of 20-30 minutes. This Hotel on Lake and very good lake view. You can walk to lake or Water river.

Excellent hotel which vastly exceeded our expectations

The attention to detail in every aspect of our stay, from the individual Victoria sponge with a pot of tea, to the decanter of Sherry in the room, was much appreciated. The hotel is both spacious and homely, with a warm welcome from both the staff and the fire in (one of two) lounges. The breakfast deserves a special mention, it really was special! We will definitely return.

There is nothing that needed improving, every aspect of our stay was perfect.

We were immediately welcomed and given a tour of the beautiful building, including the garden and the two lounges. Everywhere was kept toasty thanks to the fire places, and there were lots of books and board games available to pass the time. Our room was spacious, clean and kept supplied with lush hot chocolate, tea, etc. We had a fantastic view of the lake too. The staff were absolutely wonderful and couldn't be more helpful. Had a lovely chat with Ed one day, then Angela the next! The food was fantastic, I would highly recommend grabbing at least one dinner there, and definitely go down for breakfast every day. Wonderful selection, and exceedingly tasty. Incredibly cooked by the owner and solo chef, Richard!

Nothing! The country roads are a bit trecherous at nights, and we came down on the tightest roads on the first night, but Emily was quick to recommend us the alternate, safer, route. Be careful on your GPS!

I was confirmed by Booking .com when i booked the room and i paid extra for 2 x first floor room with a view but when i landed at the hotel , they gave me one room on first floor and one room on second floor with a small window to see the view on the second floor very disappointed.

Stunning views and all round comfort from nicely traditional country house hotel

The view from the verandah towards Esthwaite Water is worth the stay alone. The dining room is light and airy and a great place to enjoy the delicious breakfasts and dinner. There were lots of nice little touches in the room which I appreciated.

It's a little old fashioned and at first I was worried about the narrow window for dining and breakfast - but actually it worked out just fine.

A hidden gem in a beautiful location.

The excellent food, the beautiful location and the really friendly staff made this a wonderful break. We have stayed at Ees Wyke a few times and always enjoy it.

It meets our needs perfectly- nothing we didn't like.
