There was a weird smell throughout the hotel, the beds were hard, the bathroom surfaces were shabby and full of tile filler cracks on the bath and walls, which inevitably is why I noticed insects in the bathroom on second night. I'm pretty sure they were little cockroaches. Although the room seemed clean we felt dirty while staying there due to this and the other issues.
The breakfast was not good. it looked ok but did not taste it. The eggs had a weird synthetic soapy taste, the mini croissants were very stale, the only fresh fruit were apples and oranges, the yoghurt dates looked out of date but not sure, cakes were unpleasant packet cakes and the coffee tasted awful. Not hard things to get right! Even the machine juices were weird and syrupy at the bottom.
The hotel is NOT practically on the beach as suggested, you have to climb several flights of stairs and steep hills. downhill there, up on way back. This felt misleading.
You couldnt get any English chanels at all on the TV, so the TV was pointless for us. Not very acceptable in 2023.
Not the staffs fault really but didnt feel very secure either. There was a drunk, aggresive man shouting for access to his room and lots of slamming doors which woke us up twice. Generally the hotel was very noisy, we had a poorly situated room on the first floor facing down to reception. I had to go down at 1am one night to ask the receptionist to ask the drunk guests sitting sown there to be quieter as we couldnt sleep.
Last but not least, the hotel didnt even provide shower gel/ shampoo. This is a basic requirement that should be provided in a hotel, it felt like a cheap exclusion for a chain hotel and very annoying. Its not a self catering apartment block so dont think its excusable. I had to walk to the shops and buy my own after arrival.
