Beautiful but disappointing and overrated. Wouldnt re-visit.
The room was beautiful, the hotel is beautiful. Staff were friendly and courteous. The guys on the door are excellent. Location for Central Park and city Center is perfect.
Check in was poor. The room wasnt ready at 3 or 3:30, or 4 or 5. We finally got our room at 5:15. We had to sit upstairs out the way waiting for our room because the nice downstairs area had a waiting list. We found ourselves waiting down the road at the Ritz Carlton just to get served some food and drink. The room was noisy, the air con rattled, ever time the subway passed underneath it was noisy, and we were on the 14th floor! The walls were paper thin and the guy next door could be heard talking on his phone. Not even shouting. Just talking. But we could hear every word. And when someone somewhere else flushes their toilet, it sounds like theyre in your room flushing your toilet. Finally, the second bed wasnt made up at 7 for our little girl. We had to wait until 9:30 despite a very long travel day the next day and an early night hoped for. The bed was lumpy and too soft. All in all, a massive disappointment for what was supposed to be the cherry on top to an amazing Christmas and new year away. They did compensate for the failures but what was supposed to be $250 was only $50 and I had to challenge this. And you get charged $65 credit to use toward food, drink or spa, and it gets taken whether you use it or not.

Bad
Has nothing to do with a star hotel. awful!
The Location only
the service in all areas of the hotel was very poor. Apparently they don't know service there. In the restaurant you had to wait up to an hour for breakfast to arrive and then it was still cold. You always get told: sorry, sorry, but they don't change anything. not recommended this hotel.

A very tired and sad hotel.
Location.
A very tired and sad hotel. Without its iconic name it would struggle to achieve a 4 star rating. A lack of investment for years has left the its mark with fraying carpets, badly fitted doors and decor from a poor motel chain but that (motel chain) is probably where the management would find their level.

Its exactly what you picture its like from the movies.
They really do go above and beyond. Their service is exactly what you expect, courteous and hospitable.
I loved every inch of my stay at The Plaza.

Poor
Hotel that lacks service and facilitiies
We booked a suite, and paid for an upgrade on arrival. This rooms was large but it was not without cost as i paid over 4000 USD per night to stay her so it should be large. The location of the hotel is good if you want to be central park but there are more up and coming areas of the city too.
I disliked so many things about this hotel that i will be writing to the management. It was not at all value for money which is a shame. I stayed here many years ago and its not the same hotel.
For the money paid we expected much more. For instance on arrival with 6 suitcases there was no one to greet us. After a very long flight we carried the cases up the stairs ourselves into the lobby ad although there was security and doorman no one offered to help.
There are NO coffee of tea facilities in the room. I was informed by many staff that this is cause management want me to spend money on room service. However room service was often engaged or didn't answer and on the two times we called it the wait for food was long and the charge was astronomical. (try 177 dollars for 2 coffees, 2 orange juices, 2 teas and 6 small pastries)
In the end I got a basic espresso machine for the room but nothing else. If you want to have a cup of tea or a coffee in your room at your own convenience then forget it unless you go and by your own kettle
The mini bar is still in the dark ages too - no half bottles or spirits like in so many good hotels - this hotel in the second biggest suite is still doing miniatures and very limited ones.. 2 bottles of beer, no ice, limited mixers.. Snacks were extremely limited
The facilities in the room for F&B are the worst I've had in a hotel for many years but i can accept that but not when its on a room costing over 4000 dollars a night.
On Christmas day we were to have a nice family breakfast in the Palm room however, we got a letter on Christmas eve through the door saying it was to be closed due to preparing for there over priced Christmas buffet.
All in all a very disappointing hotel thats lost touch and doesn't provide the service that it claims to do or charges for.

The Plaza Hotel exceeded every expectation and dream I had!!
This hotel was amazing. I felt safe and secure which was super important. I love that you are only allowed inside if you are staying there or have reservations for tea. The staff was so incredibly kind. The in-room dining for breakfast was so nice and delicious!! I love the turn down service and the shower fixture was phenomenal; the pressure was great and the water stayed hot which is hard to come by in hotels. Everyone we spoke with on staff was accommodating and more than willing to help!
I would have loved to check in a little earlier. I also would have liked the breakfast included to be a little more clear with their wording. I received a $50 credit each day which was very different than breakfast included which led me to believe breakfast was free and included in my nightly price. I would have ordered it either way but would have liked to have known up front that it was only a $50 credit.
