    Good spa but hotel feels tired
    The spa was excellent - great view and was generally very quiet during the day, getting a bit busier early evening. Steam room and sauna good, jacuzzi could have been a touch hotter. Happy hour in the bar was also great, its an excellent spot for sundowners and the cocktails were good. Solid choices on the breakfast buffet - the local honey was particular good. Green policy around getting money back for not having cleaners come in is a good idea.
    The rooms are a bit non-descript and everything just feels tired. Lots of scuff marks on walls, water leaking under an emergency exit door by the stairs, and the room was dusty when we arrived. Were offered a room change which was a lot cleaner but there were still wires visible in the bathroom for example. The place is in need of a good refresh. Some policies need flagging - robes are only available to those guests paying for better rooms (a bit odd in a spa hotel). Those same guests also get the window seats at breakfast (some of which just stay empty throughout on the off chance these elite residents arrive). Felt like I was constantly having to ask for things - robes, towels, amenities - that should just come as standard in a spa hotel, which was just a bit frustrating. Breakfast juices a bit rubbish - get the real stuff.

    Gorgeous hotel with amazing views of Funchal.Room and view were excellent. Beds comfortable and modern bathroom. Lobby, bar, dining areas all nicely decorated and modern. Great hotel for a couple Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice hot and cold as well as an omelette station for fresh eggs
    Room was clean when we arrived but on closer inspection it was a little dusty in some areas (skirting, under bed) Guests have to pay to go in spa area (indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna) unless you book one of the more expensive rooms. Hotel facilities should be open to all paying guests. No bathrobes in standard or classic rooms

    So relaxing and would definitely come here again.
    The staff were super welcoming & helpful upon arrival and throughout our stay. We had breakfast included and it was really good standard. There was entertainment every night which made out evenings in more enjoyable. The indoor pool is a HUGE plus since the outdoor pool was freezing - mind you we did go mid November. The room was SO lovely and spacious.
    Everything was really good so hardly any cons - just wish we had an iron in our room rather than going to the 3rd floor but that's a very minor thing

    A wonderful relaxing stay!
    We had a wonderful relaxing stay here! Would definitely recommend! We had a sea view room which was great to watch the sunrise. We used the spa facilities and had a massage all of which was very good. The hotel was very clean and every member of staff we came across was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful and they served it early too which was great for when we were off early for a hike. Parking was also easy and lots of spaces. Cant fault this hotel.

    A lovely hotel in beautiful Funchal
    My room had a brilliant view. All the staff were really lovely. The pools and facilities were great. Great quality and reasonably priced cocktails.
    If youre in to sunbathing there isnt enough space /sun loungers around the pool and it becomes a little overcrowded.
