    Aweful food experience in a nice hotel
    The hotel has a nice location and friendly staff. The facility is very accessible and the rooms are nice with an amazing view over the ocean.
    We had booked half-board and that has been one of the worst food experiences we ever faced. The food is just cheap and lowest quality in all aspects. Also the bathroom facilities need an update.

    Value for money, location, facilities, and staff were all above par. Better than expected!
    Staff was super friendly and helpful
    Minor issue, the but fruit juices for breakfast were so watered down it tasted like, well, water.

    Continues to be a well run hotel. Peaceful. Very clean. Good variety of food. Guest Services always willing to help and provide good customer service. In walking distance and on bus route to Funchal.
    Some staff in dining room and bar not welcoming. Maybe still in training?

    It is the best place to start your island hopping trips from, I think.
    Superb place with comfy rooms with sea view close to shops and local amenities. It is easily reachable by the airport shuttle bus or taxi/car and well equipped to relax and recover after your Madeira island hopping trips. Dinning in the half board restaurant is a must try in a lifetime.
    My stay was too short. I would spend a month there :)

    Room is spacious and functional albeit basic. The bathroom is big and loved the 2 sinks vanity top with plenty of space for toiletries and beauty products. All the staffs at the reception during our 4 nights stay were efficient, helpful and friendly. We met a male receptionist (sorry forgotten to get his name) who has been working there since 1999 and who we met in 2001 when we first visited (then called Crown Plaza Hotel). The seaview and the swimming pools were superb!
    The food and service in Sabor A Mar was very average so was the service in Lisboa Bar. Slow and charmless. The hotel is nice but bland. When we check in, we were first given a room with a dirty rug and a faulty aircon. To their credit, the receptionist did promptly change the room when we complained.
