Nice enough - but definitely not 4* material and overall disappointing compared to the online reviews. Some specific points:
- Very old and battered leather chair in room, so much so that it actually detracted from the room itself.
- Room servicing poor. Main issue was that tiny bottles of shower gel and soap were not refilled, which made having a shower when we got in late very difficult. Bed not made, cobweb on ceiling, etc.
- Room itself needed love and attention (i.e. wallpaper on ceiling beginning to split, etc).
- Breakfast. Cooked breakfast was fine, but the other items consisted of croissants in plastic packaging, breakfast bars, etc. Room not cosy at all (overhead light, large tv on, etc). More attention needs to be paid to what guests would like - menus might help?
All in all, not a cosy B&B-style guesthouse, which is perhaps what we had envisaged from the online description and available pictures. Instead felt quite like a small hotel - and one that needed some attention at that. Not 4* material.
Also note, the whole property has been converted to guest rooms, meaning that you may get a room on the ground floor - meaning that you have to keep the shutters closed (and therefore no natural light) to maintain any privacy.
