The private beach was shared with another hotel 'of lower quality' with a better deal for that hotel. Free of charge to the other hotel of 2 stars, with a charge to us in the '4-star hotel'. Go figure.
When aiming to check out, we had to get cleaners out of the room first! They had started cleaning when we were supposed to collect our stuff and check out. Due to the hassle, our departure was delayed - which was 'ok' for the hotel, even when they had not problem acknowledging this was a mistake on their part, but without any intention to compensate for it in any way. For us this was not so much 'ok', as apart from being quite unpleasant, our plans also got re-scheduled due to this delay. When in all the hassle I accidentally then left my phone charger in the room and asked about it later, not only did they not call me back about it, they asked me to give an open-ended access to charge my credit card to whatever sum needed to send the charger to me, as 'they did not know how much it would cost' - to send it over to Naples, same country, and close by...! Only a fool would agree and give such open access to your credit card. They just were 0% helpful. I ended up just buying myself a new charger instead. Never heard back from them again.
I would expect a bit more from a '4-star hotel', to be honest.
I must say I was much surprised by a 4-star hotel behaving this way. In any case, as soon as we had checked out, before any charger-missing-issues, we were basically non-existent to the staff. No bag carrier to tip - no service what-so-ever. This is such a shame, as the location was beautiful, so was the room, and some of the individual members of the staff were really suberb.
