The first room I had was on the 4th floor but up another half flight (lift broken) I was told they'd looked to move us but couldn't (not a problem) when I entered the room it smelt like smoke, the paint had been chipped off in several places on several walls. The floor was dirty, the headboard was dusty and hair on all 4 pillows! The bathroom was clean but the toilet flush was broken and you were sat on the toilet with the hand basin like a desk! Literally tucking legs under the sink. I'm only 5"4 so I feel sorry for anybody with long legs.
I rang to complain about the room and was instantly given another on the 2nd floor suggesting other rooms were available. No offer to help us move so I walked down the 4/5 flights of stairs with a suitcase to collect another key card. The 2nd room was like a sauna!! I'm assuming it had just been serviced and that's why it was very humid from the shower. Thankfully Aircon was available to simmer the heating. Room was cleaninish, no water provided and only one large towel. By this time though we needed to leave for our evening plans.
The young man on the host stand at breakfast was very polite and sorted our cooked breakfast and hot drinks proficiently. The cooked food was tasty but larger plates would have made eating it easier as opposed to what appeared to be large side plates.
We have stayed in this hotel multiple times over the past 5 years and this is the first time we've encountered problems. I am disappointed and unfortunately will look at other hotels in the area next time we stay in Nottingham.
