Cleanliness - toilet room including window needs a complete clean - smelt of urine, floor was dirty and window and screen was filthy. Shower needs a good scrub with Exit Mould. Room service was not explained on check in and only after moving the tea-box was a small business card found, explaining the process. Too late for us.
Service - storms meant power outages. we understand that. however hot water seemed to be effected meaning cold showers the next day - although the generators were running? Branches and leaves brought down during the storm/s were not cleaned away the next day. No staff bothered to ask us if our car had been damaged by debris. We would have mentioned how the storm had blown all the built up grime and muck from the fixed toilet window through the entire toilet room.
Unfortunately for us, a few of the local lads downstairs in the bar on both nights made our two night stay fairly disastrous. It seems like the culture there is to try to pick a fight with a visitor in order to build your reputation. They are lucky we did not retaliate - might be older than them but they had no idea who they were picking on. Being ex military ourselves, and trying to take this short break to just enjoy some quiet time together, we found this really upsetting and nearly got in the car at that moment to drive the six hours home. If the publican/s are aware of the personality/ies involved from the local perspective I suggest they have a not so quiet word with them before the next incident they try to ignite.
Overall, we count ourselves lucky that we did not park our vehicle on the street, as the midnight burnout / circlework demonstration put on by the same local lads on closing was like the cream on the top of an already mouldy cake for us.
