Our driver will welcome you on your flight arrival at Bagdogra (IXB). From there, drive towards Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan from India, in an Innova Cab. Phuentsholing is a thriving commercial center on the edge of the Northern Plains of India. At the Immigration Gate, pay INR 10, then proceed on foot to the terminal, where your cab will pick you up and take you to the hotel. After check-in, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.
In the morning, complete your entry formalities and then drive towards Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Thimphu is the most populous city in the country, home to over 120,000 people, and is a melting pot of different ethnic groups and international communities. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and later visit Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion), which houses the Royal Secretariat, the Golden Throne Room, the Office of His Majesty the King, the seat of the Royal Government, and the summer residence of His Holiness the Je Khenpo & Monk Body. Overnight stay at Thimphu.
After breakfast, embark on a local sightseeing tour of Thimphu. Visit the Memorial Chorten, Changangkha Lhakhang, Folk Heritage Museum, Buddha Dordenma, Dechen Phodrang Monastery (Palace of Great Bliss), and Bhutan Textile Museum. Later, return to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Thimphu.
After breakfast, drive towards Punakha. En route, stop at the Dochula Pass (3150 Meter / 10330 Feet) and visit the "Druk Wangyal Chortens," which contain 108 memorial chortens. Upon arrival in Punakha, check in to the hotel. After some rest, go on a sightseeing tour of Punakha, which served as the capital of Bhutan until 1955. Visit the Punakha Dzong (the palace of great happiness or bliss), the Winter Residence of Bhutan's Central Monastic Body, and the Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the "Fertility Temple." The evening is at leisure. Overnight stay at Punakha.
Early in the morning, drive towards Paro. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and later visit the National Museum. Originally set in Paro Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower, the museum was moved to another building after the earthquake caused significant damage to the original structure. The view of the valley below is fascinating and offers a great spot for photographs. If time permits, visit Rinpung Dzong (Fortress of Heap of Jewels), which houses the district monastic body and government administrative offices of Paro District, and Kichu Lhakhang, a temple built by the Tibetan Buddhist King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century. The Lhakhang has been restored to its former glory under the Royal patronage of Her Majesty the Royal Grandmother Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck. Later, return to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Paro.
After breakfast, drive to the base camp for Tiger's Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang) and start your hike to the famous Taktshang (Tiger's Lair or Nest). The temple clings to a sheer cliff 3,000 feet above the valley. Guru Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, the great Indian Saint who brought Buddhism to Tibet and Bhutan, meditated here in a cave that is now concealed behind a carved wooden grille in the temple's inner sanctum. The sanctum is opened only once a year. Later in the evening, visit handicraft shops to pick up souvenirs. Overnight stay at Paro.
After breakfast, drive towards Bagdogra via Phuentsholing. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Overnight stay at Bagdogra.
After breakfast, transfer to Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey.
