You May Soon Commute Between IGI Airport Terminals In An Air Train!

As per the sources, the three-terminal buildings of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport will be connected via Automated Passenger Mover (APMs), or Air Trains, by 2022. This decision will allow passengers to easily and quickly commute between terminal buildings than the currently operating Shuttle Bus Services.

Upcoming Improvements

Indira Gandhi International Airport is expected to observe an annual passenger capacity of around 100 million passengers by 2022. It also moved four places up to become the 12th busiest airport in the world in March 2018. To efficiently handle the passengers, Delhi Airport Authorities had announced earlier this year, in August, that the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) would integrate Departure and Arrival Terminals of T1 building.

Added Facilities

Other announcements included the construction of a new T1 Apron and fourth runway, dual–elevated Eastern Cross Taxiways (ECTs), landside developments for circulation and connectivity improvements and some modification works of T3 building. With this, IGI Airport will become the first airport in India to have four runways and a dual elevated Eastern Cross Taxiways (ECTs).

With so many new facilities being constructed at the IGI Airport, what is your opinion about this news? Let us know in the comments below!
