Delhi's International Airport (T2) has initiated an Express Security Check-In facility for passengers traveling only with hand baggage. They can head straight to the express lane avoiding the long check in queue area.
This will help divert passengers to another express lane thus reducing chaos in main security check-in zone. Delhi airport has initiated the facility in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force.
After web-check in or after manually printing boarding passes from the self-service kiosks, domestic passengers can enter the express security check lane without getting into the check-in area and head straight towards the boarding area.
"It will ensure fast and seamless flow of domestic passengers travelling without any check-in baggage," said the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).
It is estimated that Terminal 2 handles over 45,000 domestic passengers per day out of which, more than 30 percent of which 13,000 passengers approximately travel without any check-in luggage.
The initiative has also been processed in the interest of improved on-time performance of airlines.
The GMR-led DIAL said in its statement, "Passengers particularly frequent flyers such as government officials, business, and corporate travellers will immensely benefit from the express check-in facility, as this will save their precious time before boarding the aircraft."
