Their Instagram Account is a visual treat for all the viewers, and their travel tips and tricks will help you knit your dreamy vacations with an affordable price. To know the duo better, we at Holidify were inspired to discuss with them about their experiences as a travel couple, their travel impediments, what draws them towards travelling and a lot more.
1. What was the trip that inspired you to take this journey forward?
Our first-ever trip together was to Mauritius in 2016 and we absolutely loved it. It was a paid package tour that we did and we really enjoyed being on the island. But there was something missing, a void that we only realised later that year when we backpacked in Goa. The joy of visiting a place on a reasonable budget was something we got fascinated with, and we decided to save up and go a little further. In May 2017, we visited Andaman, and it was so memorable. By then, our fondness of travelling together to interesting and offbeat destinations on a budget became deep-rooted. Some weeks later, we headed to Cambodia and Vietnam – and that’s where it began – the idea of The Backpacksters being a soulful guide to travelling on a budget and exploring beyond our domestic boundaries!

2. Which place in India that you visited is your favourite till date and what are the top three destinations that you want to visit in 2020?
Besides Andaman, we’d have to say that our favourite destination, particularly for a long weekend is Kannur. Though, our travel experiences in India have only just begun! As for the top three destinations, Indonesia has been on our list for a long time now, consciously – it’s a place that needs a good amount of time! We’ve also been longing to visit mainland Africa. And the third one is a tie between Bhutan and Nepal.
3. How do you think travelling has changed your life? Tell us one of your favourite memory from your journey so far.
Travelling for us has been an ongoing life-lesson. The biggest aspect here has been that sense of gratitude that it has instilled in us – something we had not valued as much, for a long time. We are thankful for having had the opportunity to explore some beautiful countries and cultures! Our favourite memory is probably the one from our last evening in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It was an extremely heartwarming moment – we were sitting on a pier on the Mekong river, fighting back that the blues of returning to work the next day, but we realised how special travelling together was – a feeling that has long been the fuel to working towards The Backpacksters.

4. What are some tips that you want to give to new budding travellers and what do you think is needed to maintain a good travel blog?
The first time you travel, is probably going to feel simple, normal, maybe even un-exciting. But that’s exactly what makes travel magical – it grows on you, and attaches itself to your heart so strongly that you’ll never know about that ‘one moment’ that sparked the flame of wanderlust! To maintain a good travel blog one should remember that it's the content that connects people – to keep it as real as it gets but at the same time, it's important to convey the magic in exploring those destinations as beautifully as possible.5. Do you think travel blogging has changed the ways in which you travel and what is your advice to couple bloggers who are looking to make big on Instagram?
Blogging has made our experiences more flavourful – we say this because, we now observe a lot more details that we otherwise would not have, take more tasteful pictures (not just selfies) that will remind us of those experiences more strongly and we’ve been increasingly frugal ever since. Saving money to travel more became the mantra! For couples they should know that Content and Consistency are a known requirement – its what sets you two apart from the rest. Just like all the other couple bloggers out there, there is something special in you, always yearn to discover that.

6. Why did you decide to visit Egypt? Can you name the top 3 destinations one should definitely add to their bucket list from Egypt?
Egypt is on most people’s list because of how much it features in our childhood – the pyramids, the mummies, the movies, the Suez canal, everything! That drew us to Egypt – and we quickly realised that there’s SO much more to the country than just this. In fact, besides the pyramids, our favourite destinations there are the legendary Mount Sinai, the grand Temple of Abu Simbel on the Nile near the Sudanese border and Luxor, for the Valley of the Kings and the incredibly delicious falafels we ate for INR 20.
7. As you have recently been to Russia, what is your favourite experience there that you would recommend to all?
Hands down, that’d have to Murmansk, the northernmost city in the World! The city is just like any other, but the subtle orthodox Christian culture, the beautiful expanses of the snow-white arctic landscapes and finally the most impressive frontier of Teriberka, a small fishing village on the Northern Ocean made our Russian escape absolutely amazing!

8. Last but not the least, can you name a destination that was Most Fun, Most Challenging, Most Inspiring, Most Thrilling?
A. Most Fun – Canyoning at Grand Galet, Southern Réunion IslandB. Most Challenging – the trek to Nam Xay top, Laos
C. Most Inspiring – It’s hard to pick one because of each country inspiring us in its own unique way – but Sri Lanka has been an interesting one – a small, often overlooked and the underrated country showed us how one should never judge a destination before giving it a fair chance!
D. Most Thrilling – Réunion Islands, for the Jurassic Park-like the appearance of the valleys, the beautiful beaches, vibrant creole culture and the innumerable waterfalls
