Mushrif Central Park, Abu Dhabi Overview

Mushrif Central Park, also known as Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi, is one of the oldest and largest parks in the city. Covering an area of 14.5 hectares of land, the park features a range of educational and recreational experiences. The park is often described as a 'People's Park' and has plenty to do for people of all ages.

The park's design is meant to continue the legacy of the late President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who greatly loved nature and emphasized the conservation of the environment. It also includes elements of Islamic design, such as pavilions, wind, water, shade and quadripartite patterns. It is designed to help educate and enrich people, and simultaneously socialize and enjoy at a community level.

Things o see at Mushrif Park

The Umm Al Emarat Park features a variety of educational and entertaining experiences for all, including an amphitheatre, an animal barn, a botanical garden, a shade house, an outdoor movie lawn, an interactive children’s museum, a number of gardens and a weekly farmer’s market.

Botanical Garden: The open-air garden is surrounded by a 28-metre high shade house structure, which is filled with tropical plants in a controlled environment with a fogging system. The plant species here can benefit from a cooler environment than the climate outside. One can enjoy the picturesque views from inside the towering Shade House, which has two viewing decks that overlook the park and the surrounding landscape. The botanic garden, with its rocks, pond and desert plants, is designed to look like an oasis.

Animal Barn: It is a petting zoo which is home to camels, goats, donkeys, ponies and many other animals. Open for visitors from after 11:30 AM, the animal barn is a favourite among the young ones! One can also have a free camel ride every day from 05:00 PM to 09:00 PM.

Wadi water: It is an area designed like a wadi, with rocks and traditional desert tents.

Amphitheatre: This outdoor venue is large enough to accommodate over a thousand people and can hold cultural events, concerts, theatre performances, movies and more. The park also has a tree-lined promenade, running from one end of the park to the other, with a stream full of fish. Along the promenade, one can find a running trail around the perimeter of the park where visitors can walk, jog, or cycle.

Activities at the Park

  • Regular family movie screenings at its outdoor movie lawn.
  • Train rides all around the park for a fee of AED 15 per person, after 12:00 PM.
  • Monthly programmes with yoga and fitness classes, as well as football games.
  • Enjoy a meal at the Park Station Café located inside the park. 

Every Saturday evening, the park turns into a shopping and eating destination for the Ripe Food and Craft Market. The walkways are filled with stalls selling everything, from art and craft materials and jewellery to food and home furnishings.

Tips for visiting Mushrif Central Park

The park does not permit any food from outside, except for young children. All food and snacks can be purchased from inside the park. The park also does not permit barbeque or food grilling

How To Reach Mushrif Central Park

The Umm Al Emarat Park can be found on 15th street in Mushrif area, between Airport Road and Karama Street in Abu Dhabi. One can get here by car, taxi or bus. If one chooses to visit by bus, take bus number 44 from Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalifa Medical City bus-stop till Mushrif Palace, and walk approximately 250 metres to Umm Al Emarat Park.
