Once the capital of Cilicia Secunda, it was one of the chains of Armenian fortifications spanning 1500 meters across Cilicia. With archaeologists trying to restore the city, excavations have been underway since 2012. The most recent find here is the arena or the gladiator's ring. Their other finds include a stone throne, an aqueduct, and several temples and churches. The city also houses the Anazarbus Museum, which holds a collection of ancient artefacts.
