The town and municipality of Argostoli is located on the island of Kefalonia, among the Ionian islands in Greece. This seaside town is popular for housing over 39 beaches with a quaint and picturesque setting. Home to the largest shipping port in the Ionian islands, the town of Argostoli is the capital and the island's largest city.
The main tourist attraction in Argostoli is the Caretta-Caretta turtles, which feed in the nearby Koutavos Lagoon. In addition, there are stores, restaurants, cafes, and a lively harbour with numerous fishing boats. Open-air theatres, a range of religious and cultural festivals, boat tours, yacht rentals, and two tourist trains that tour the city in the height of the tourist season are all available in the city centre. A tiny museum devoted to the cultural and social history of Kefalonia, the Focas Kosmetatos Foundation, is located in one of the few buildings that survived the 1953 earthquake of Argostoli.
Also known as Kephalonia or Cephalonia, the waterfront at Argostoli is situated along Ioannou Metaxou. This long promenade is usually crowded during the evening as it is considered an excellent place for walking. Argostoli is one of the most famous Greek island towns, there is something to do for everyone here, and families usually prefer it for a good vacation.
