Ahmedabad is a city with jam-packed traffic throughout the day. However, roads leading to offices and tourist places are the most crowded ones. There are a number of options one can use for commuting within the city such as buses, cabs, rickshaws, car rentals etc.
By Bus: Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), popularly known as ‘Janmarg’. BRTS was launched as a free service for a quarter year. Later on, it was converted into a paid service with extremely low fares starting from INR 3 for 2 km. BRTS is the main medium of transportation in Ahmedabad and is widely used by working class people, students and even tourists. The bus services ply from 6 AM to 11 PM. Keep in mind that buses are super crowded and not as comfortable.
By Cab: People often prefer taking a cab or a rickshaw for commuting from one place to another. Although, charges are higher as compared to bus fares yet cabs and rickshaws are more convenient for local commuters. Thousands of rickshaws operate in the city everyday carrying passengers back and forth.
By Auto-rickshaws: Autorickshaws are always available.
Car Rentals: A significant percentage of tourists prefer car rentals for traversing around the sites. Car rentals are an excellent choice if travelling in a group.
