Monduli Juu is a small community with four Maasai villages located in the Monduli Hills, about 50 kilometres northwest of Arusha. The villages—Emairete, Enguiki, Eluwai, and Mfereji—are famous for their Maasai culture. Visitors can experience traditional hospitality, see ancient customs, explore bustling markets, and even camp there.
In Monduli Juu Village, there are many activities besides cultural experiences. The village serves as a starting point for exploring the beautiful Monduli Juu hills, where you can go on guided hikes with stunning views of the Great Rift Valley. For those interested in Maasai culture, guided tours allow you to interact with residents, participate in traditional dances, learn about natural medicine healing, and even try spear-throwing. You can also purchase handmade Maasai crafts and souvenirs at the local markets to support the community. Additionally, the Emairete Dam is a great spot to observe a variety of birdlife.
Monduli Juu Village Market : The Monduli Juu Village Market, also called the Red Market, is open only on Sundays. Here, visitors can find various items like beaded bangles and necklaces as well as enjoy goat barbecue and Maasai banquets.
