Killing Caves, Battambang Overview
Widely known as the Killing Caves of Phnom Sampeau, this is one of the execution sites of the Khmer Rouge. Definitely not for those with a weak heart, the execution site features statues exhibiting the atrocities done by Khmer Rouge on the Cambodian locals. The wondrous and devastating site is a testament to thousands of Cambodians brutally bludgeoned and thrown into the abyss, later meeting death by starvation when they didn't die on impact in the corpse-congested caves. The reclining Buddha statue and memorial glass with victims' skulls are also some features that relay the grim tragedy.
