Marton Mere Nature Reserve, Blackpool Overview

Located near Omskirk, is this wildlife conservation site known as Marton Mere Nature Reserve. With abundant flora and fauna, this reserve also consists of endagered plants and animals. It has areas of grasslands, reeds and a freshwater lake (mere), after which the place is named.

Due to this, it can sustain various different forms of life. It is home to over a whooping 2000+ species of animals, including mammals, birds, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles etc. The place also has plants, mostly traditional Lancashire plants like whorled caraway, golden dock, tubular water dropwort, early marsh orchids, the large-flowered hemp nettle and purple ramping fumitory. The highlight of this place is however the migrant birds. In each season, you can see different birds greeting this place, adding to its beauty. You can get a good view of all of this through designated pathways, without interrupting the lives of these animals and plants.
