First Unitarian Church of Chicago is a Unitarian Universalist church founded under the leadership of Minister Charles Follen on the 26th of July, 1836. It is one of the oldest churches in Chicago. The Church embraces a wide variety of personal beliefs and belief systems and welcomes individuals from various religious backgrounds, cultures, races, genders, and sexual orientations.
Social Justice is a focal point of the congregation and the church has been actively involved in it since its founding days with the tradition continuing to date. It also hosts weddings with two unique settings - a dramatic gray stone neo-gothic sanctuary under soaring vaulted ceilings with a seating capacity for 225 guests and a warm, intimate setting in a Victorian carved oak Hull Chapel with a seating capacity of 100 guests.
