Henry B. Clarke House was built-in 1836 and is the oldest surviving house in Chicago. The Greek Revival Style house was built by a local carpenter for Henry Brown Clarke- a native of New York State who had come to Chicago in 1833 with his family. The Clarke House Museum presents an insight into the kind of life and lifestyle families in Chicago during the city’s formative year before the Civil War led. The place is a must-visit for those who are interested in architectural history and wishes to inquire more about the early days of Chicago.
