Hi, Coorg was quite badly affected by the recent floods, and was one of the worst affected districts in Karnataka. There were a lot of landslides across the district, and infact a number of coffee pl (Read More)antations were totally destroyed. A number of roads leading up to Coorg had landslides, and buses to Coorg were cancelled or diverted. Given that, I highly recommend that you plan some alternate option to visit Coorg. If you have a prior booking with a resort/hotel, maybe you can talk to the hotel and check with them, but I still suggest you plan your on a later date if possible.

Arif (testing): The best season to visit Abbey Falls is the monsoon season (June to August) since the falls is full of water and the sight is very beautiful.

Located amidst imposing mountains in Karnataka with a perpetually misty landscape, Coorg is the place to be for all nature lovers. This popular coffee producing hill station is not only popular for i (Read More)ts beautiful green hills and the streams cutting right through them. It also stands as a popular destination because of its culture and people.

Abbey falls is actually quite pretty and nice, even though I wasn't really expecting that. It was easily accessible as well by a car. We went there in the month of October and the water flow was good (Read More) as well.

Coorg, famous for its Homestays and Resorts, can be visited over a weekend. Sightseeing such as Raja?s Seat and Madikeri Fort have very little to offer. Raja?s Seat is super crowded and the serenity (Read More)of the place is lost in the midst of noise. Madikeri Fort is also uninteresting, too small and too uneventful. Coorg has local shops that offer spice wine and homemade chocolates that I would recommend to everyone. Even Coorg cuisine is extremely tasty and worth a try for spice lovers, especially. When visiting Coorg, do make it a point to visit Vivanta by Taj Resort because it offers a beatific view of the landscapes and its pleasant to walk in around the property. If not for a homestay, do try the restaurant Ferntree at the Resort which is amazingly located and does not put a hole in your pocket.

- If you are visiting Coorg in wet weather seasons, beware of leeches especially while walking through wet grass and in bathrooms/toilets.
- Watch out for traffic (locals warn about overloaded lor (Read More)ries"") along the main highways leading into Madikeri and the winding roads of the region. Speedbreakers on some roads tend to be unmarked. Wild animals are reported on some roads at night, and domesticated herds by day too.
- Along with Kannada, English and Hindi are also spoken in Coorg, so language should not be a problem here.

For me, Coorg provided the perfect weekend away from my fast-paced city life with its several historical and cultural tourist attractions. Raja?s Seat, a favourite of the Kings of Kodagu, is a sunset (Read More) point where you can view all of the surrounding green hills. Madikeri Fort, another must-see landmark, was built by Muddu Raja, and houses within it a church, a temple, a prison, a library and a museum. The Abbey Falls, a personal favourite, is where the water of the Kaveri river falls from a soaring height of 70 feet. I highly recommend carrying your walking shoes ? walking will give you the best view of the town?s beauty!

I visited Coorg in 2016. The place looks like a fairyland. Calm and serene verdant hills. If you are accompanied with children, must try a ride in children's train at the Raja's seat.
