At an altitude of 2357 metres, Lake Stellisee is a magnificent lake in the lap of the majestic Alps. One of the most photographed sites of Zermatt and Switzerland, its east-aligned waves and Hormli ridge of the Matterhorn forms a perfect mirror image of the Matterhorn.
This dwarfish lake is amongst the most-frequented sites in all of Switzerland. The calm mirror-like lake, surrounded by peaking white alps is a breathtaking site to behold and is also very accessible; a mere 20-minute walk from the upper station of the Blauherd cable car. For the swashbucklers out there, a juggernaut emotional experience would be to tent-up for a night and get lost in the reflections of the stars and the mountains it illuminates.
Other important objective information : 1. One can also proceed from the lake to the great glacier of the Monte Rosa group via the Fluhalp refuge.
2. Near the Sunnega station is the Wolli entertainment area which lies besides the Leisee pond and offers rest and frolic for children and teenagers.
