This 12th-century castle which lies mostly in ruins today is a perfect offbeat trail for those who lust for one. Located on the periphery of the Seymaz Natural Reserve, this dilapidated site chimes a hymn of solitude and is currently a Swiss site of historical importance.
Built-in 1338, nearby the banks of Lake Geneva, this ancient monument underwent excavations for over 10 years, and recent restorations, after being left to decay for decades, have placed it among the more-frequented sites around Geneva.. It is a love affair for major history buffs because of a recent discovery of a 1339 text which elucidated details of a wooden building that was on the same ground as the castle but before it. Wilderness hugs its premises, and a peaceful breeze engulfs its surroundings.
