Modinagar, Ghaziabad Overview

Modinagar is a small town, located close to Ghaziabad, which is most famous as an educational hub. Besides, the city is also among the pioneer sugar producers in Uttar Pradesh. The most popular attraction in Modi Nagar is the Laxmi Narayan Temple, also known as the Modi Temple.

Earlier known as Begumabad, it is believed to have been founded and ruled by Nawab Zafar Ali. The village is named after Gujarmal Modi who established a Sugar Mill in 1933, thus claiming the land. Begumabad was further changed to Modinagar during colonial India, alongside the honouring of Gujarmal Modi with the title of Raja Bahadur.

Modinagar is reachable via airways, roadways and railways. The nearest international airport to the city is the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, about 65 km and accessible through a 90 to 110-minute taxi drive. 

The city has a railway station just 5 minutes from the city centre. It is located close to Sarawat Hospital, on the Modinagar - Begmabad Road. The nearest bus stop is the one along the Niwari - Modinagar road. Approximately 15 km from the city, the distance is coverable with a 30-minute drive.
