Golden Horn, Istanbul Overview

Golden Horn is a natural harbor, shaped like a horn that extends for about 7 kilometers into the city, separating the European side of Istanbul into two parts. The Galata Bridge, one of the oldest and most famous bridges in the world, crosses the Golden Horn, connecting the two sides. You can enjoy local cuisine at the many restaurants and cafes along the shores of the Golden Horn, take a sunset ferry cruise or just enjoy the blue skies turn into hues of gold and red from the natural harbour.

Golden Horn is situated between the historic areas of Sultanahmet and Galata, just north of the Bosphorus Strait. You can explore the nearby ancient city walls, the Eyüp Mosque Complex, and the tomb of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari. You can enjoy panoramic views of Istanbul  and Golden Horn from Pierre Loti Hill, as well.
