The third largest national park in the country, area-wise, Namdapha National Park is located in Arunachal Pradesh. Namdapha National Park is a gem for any wildlife and nature lover. With its altitude varying between 200 meters to 4500 meters, it is a haven of rare and endangered animal and plant species with one of the most vibrant bio-diversities in the country. It is here that you can spot species such as Snow Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Leopard, and Tiger. Namdapha National Park is located at a mere distance of 160 km from the capital of Assam, i.e. Dibrugarh and is well-connected by a network of roads up till Miao, which is its getaway.

Best Time To Visit Namdapha National Park

Namdapha National Park is best enjoyed during the winter season. The humid subtropical climate of the national park keeps the winters mild. The temperature varies between 25°C and 8°C from November to February. October can also be a good time to explore the national park when the mercury level rarely crosses 29°C. March to May is summer season and June to September is the monsoon. During summers, the temperature is almost as good winters, but the region also receives some amount of rainfall whereas the monsoons are moderate to heavy (average annual precipitation is around 2900 mm).

Stay at Namdapha National Park

When at Namdapha National Park, tourists can choose to stay at either the Circuit House or the Deban Forest Rest House. Rooms are not easily available, so bookings need to be done in advance. Other than these, visitors can also choose to put up campsites and spend a night under the starlit skies. Those who are looking for accommodation outside the national park can stay at the Guest House at Namchik and the Government Lodge in Miao.

Namdapha National Park has very limited options for food. There are some eateries in the villages/ towns just beyond the border of the national park. If they wish to stay at the Circuit House or the Forest Rest House, they may request meals. The staff could arrange some local food for the guests.

APSRTC and Assam state buses ply regularly from morning till evening to Namdapha National Park from Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Tinsukia, Changlang and Margherita. One can easily hire a rental Tata Sumo for a road journey which is highly recommended than traveling through state buses.
