Built in 1628, Jembatan Kota Intan or The Diamond City Bridge is the oldest bridge in Indonesia. It is situated at Kali Besar as a hanging bridge similar to the bridges that are seen in the Netherlands. The forest wood material of the bridge has now been replaced with steel for strength. Tourists usually visit this bridge to get a complete experience of Jakarta Old Town.
Kota Intan bridge was built in the year 1628 when it was known as Hoenderpasarbrug which means ‘chicken market' since it was located close to the chicken market. The bridge today is an attractive tourist spot to take a walk or add as a photo stop on the way to exploring this beautiful town.
