Taman Suropati is regarded as an iconic landmark of Jakarta. It was officially inaugurated in the year 1919 and was built with the aim to avoid traffic congestion near the court. The park was named Taman Suropati to commemorate the Indonesian hero, Untung Suropati. It now stands as the only green patch in the otherwise crowded area.
