Located next to the Selçuklu Flower Garden and the Adventure Tower, the Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is one of the largest urban parks in the area. The building, designed in the shape of a butterfly and covered with a glass roof, spans 7,600 square meters (82,000 square feet) and includes 3,500 square meters (38,000 square feet) of walking areas. The butterfly flight area itself covers 1,200 square meters (13,000 square feet), making it the largest butterfly sanctuary in Turkey and one of the largest in Europe. The garden is accessible via city bus line #47.
The park facilitates to observe the entire lifecycle of butterflies, from caterpillar larva to pupa and finally to adult butterflies. The facility is also home to a Butterfly Museum, an Insect Museum, and a Nature Education Class, which hosts scientific activities for students on various topics such as fungi, birds, insects, and upon request, reptiles and other creatures. A dedicated team, including a tropical plant expert and six horticulturists, ensures the proper cultivation of the tropical vegetation, while biologists and veterinary physicians care for the butterflies.
