Brickfields is Kuala Lumpur's Little India, home to the Indian population of the metropolitan. It is a melange of the old and the new - swanky high rise standing along colonial kampung (village-style) houses. Located near KL Sentral, Brickfields Little India offers tourists a taste of the subcontinent despite being far away from it. The area is bursting with a thousand colours spread across its bubbling streets full of shops and restaurants, providing you with a slice of everything Indian.
The bustling neighbourhood offers Indian snacks like gulab jamuns, vadas, samosas, lassi and the like. The smells and sights teleport tourists to India itself, and the neighbourhood is lined with shops selling glass bangles, traditional Indian clothing, aromatic spices, incense sticks and sarees, among others. To buy little knick-knacks like sarees, jewellery, and garlands, head to the three-storied Indian Bazaar, which is the focal point of Little India. Tourists can also try out blind massages offered here.
Brickfields is home to some of the most important religious attractions of Kuala Lumpur. The locality houses the Thean Hou temple, the Tamil Methodist Church, the Church of the Holy Rosary, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Brickfields is home to KL Sentral, the main public transportation hub of Kuala Lumpur, making it convenient to travel to and from the neighbourhood. Visitors can disembark at KL Sentral station if travelling from KTM Komuter, monorail station, or Kelana Jaya light rail transit (LRT).
