Kuching Waterfront, Kuching Overview

Kuching Waterfront, spread across 900 metres along the southern bank of Sarawak River, is the most iconic place in Kuching. The waterfront is lined with hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, entertainment areas and various historically significant buildings making it one of the most popular attractions.

Kuching Waterfront is also popular because of the attractions located here, namely, the monument to honour the late Charles Brooke, Tua Pek Kong Temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Kuching and shopping malls such as Parkson Grand, Tun Jugah and Sarawak Plaza.

The Kuching Waterfront walkway should be visited excellent views of the river and the Malay Kampung across it during the daytime, for watching the sunset during the evening and for sampling scrumptious snacks and street food as it gets dark.

Attractions Located at Kuching Waterfront

Monument of Late Charles Brooke: This monument has a lot of interesting facts related to Kuching, one of the most important ones being the monument dedicated to honor the late Charles Brooke, the first White Rajah of Sarawak. 

Chinese History Museum: The museum can be visited to sample the history of the Chinese community in Sarawak. 

Square Tower: It is the iconic clock tower at the waterfront. 

Tua Pek Kong Temple: One of the most popular attractions at Kuching waterfront is this temple which is the oldest Chinese temple in Kuching. 

Old Sarawak Steamship building: Once consisting of offices warehouses, the Sarawak Steamship building is now restored to house the infamous Kuching Waterfront Bazaar with lots of handicrafts and food stalls. 

Darul Hana Bridge: The bridge connects Kuching Waterfront with the North side of the river and forms the path to Astana building.

How to Reach Kuching Waterfront

To reach the Kuching Waterfront, hire a taxi using a taxi hailing application or take public buses. Matang Transport Company (MTC) and Petra Jaya Transport are few companies providing such services. For those staying in the nearby hotels can access the waterfront on foot.
