Green Bazaar, Kutaisi Overview

Green Bazaar in Kutaisi is one of the most popular markets. The focal point of this bustling marketplace is the section dedicated to vegetables and fruits, a structure with roots dating back to the Soviet era. Among the tourists, the handicraft area is particularly favored, offering a delightful array of products that exemplify traditional Georgian artistry. The bazaar is also known for its different architectural elements.

Make sure to try traditional Georgian sweets, churchkhelas, along with other local, exotic products, and Georgian natural sweets. Entering through the west entrance of the market brings you to a beautiful relief art. This artwork was created in 1985 and depicts various historical and mythological figures of Georgia. It also has sculptures of individuals who are considered heroes and role models for the people of Kutaisi. It is the largest relief among the countries that formed the former Soviet Union. The bazaar’s new structure has two floors. The old and new parts together make it one of the largest covered markets in Georgia.  Although there have been many alterations throughout the years, the halls dating back to the Soviet era have been preserved until now.
