Okatse Canyon, located close to Khoni town, is an erosion canyon of the Okatse River. It is made of limestone rocks and is approximately 14 kilometers long and about 120 meters deep. The main viewing point of the canyon can be reached through a suspension bridge which is a 1-kilometer-long walking path. The canyon is known for its picturesque views, stunning waterfalls, and dense forests. It also has multiple natural stone bridges and caves. While trying to reach the canyon you also come across the ruins of the 18th century palace of the Dadiani princes.
To reach Okatse Canyon, you need to drive to the village of Zeda-Gordy, which is 50 kilometers away from Kutaisi. There are minibusses and private cars available in Kutaisi. There you can buy tickets to the canyon from the visitor center. From the center, you can either take a hike through the Dadiani historical forest and suspension bridge to the canyon or take a taxi. The Canyon starts with a long staircase that goes down, and after that, there's a narrow steel path along the canyon walls. The viewing platform at the end of the path hangs like a crane right above the middle of the canyon. This platform gives you the best view of the nature around and the Okatse River below, which flows at the bottom of the canyon.
