The NHM has one of the most extensive collections of natural history in the United States and the largest in Western US. It has over 35 million specimens, covering more than 4 billion years of history, and also one of the best displays and exhibits. Perhaps the most famous attraction in the museum is it's newly reopened Dinosaur Hall, with an amazing collection of dinosaur exoskeletons and other intriguing artefacts related to the species. It has collections going into millions in almost every single field, divided into three floors of permanent exhibit. The rotunda from the original structure of 1913 was recently renovated and reopened. This colonnaded marble structure is one of the most iconic locations in LA, and is even often used in movies. The museum and it's grand collection really puts life on earth in perspective.
